Kilo kontrolümüz için yüzme sırasında yaktığımız kaloriyi öğrenmek ve buna göre planlama yapmalıyız. Yüzmede koşu ve bisiklete oranla %10-20 oranla daha az kalori harcanmaktadır. Öte yandan yüzmede kara sporlarına göre eklemlere binen yük yok denecek kadar azdır, bu nedenle ana branş olarak kara sporu yapanlar için de sakatlık sırasında iyi bir kalori yakma aracı olarak kullanılabilmektedir.
